Get advice from a website

Handling your problems and having a shoulder to lean on during difficult times just got easier. Self-help web sites and do-it-yourself sites now have a new competitor, that of online counselling. And leading the pack is a Hyderabad-based online counselling website that was launched recently. www.relationshipcounselling.in, an initiative by Sameer Reddy and his partner was set up to help people looking for help to mend various facets of their relationships and for those who didn't know where to look for it. It is to help people ask for help in a discreet manner. City-based psychologist, Dr Aruna Ranadhir tied up with Sameer to provide the required psychological help and support to patients. Aruna has personally recruited people who will provide one-on-one counselling. The `email a counsellor' service allows people to email their question. The site not only offers help in the area of sexual and marital counselling, but also in health counselling, a speciality that looks into maintaining a healthy lifestyle under stressful conditions. The questions are charged at $4 (almost Rs.199), a fee that Sameer feels is rather nominal. "In places like Mumbai, I find that people are charged Rs. 500 per hour."The initial apprehensions of the success of the web site are many but the two feel that that there are many challenges to look forward to. But Sameer also feels that everything online is the rule of the day and hence this site. The World Wide Web has definitely made the world a better place and this site is another step in that direction.RENUKA VIJAY KUMAR
