Cornish pasty

Share  ·   print   ·

It is a savoury pasty from Cornwall, the U.K., which is how it gets its name. It’s made by putting diced beef, onion and potato on a circular pastry sheet, which is then folded over, crimped and then baked.

Some pasties use swede and parsley, and other variations include chicken, pork, ham, cheese, vegetables and fruits. Cornish pasties are usually simply seasoned with salt and pepper. Though they are traditionally handmade and sold in bakeries and specialist pasty shops, many supermarkets in Britain sell mass-produced pasties, which are, however, not quite the same.
