Find the many layers of urban life in an exhibition
Art curator Alka Pande has always brought to light unusual concepts, themes and fresh artists.
She managed it yet again at New Delhi’s India Habitat Centre recently where she curated a preview for an art exhibition titled Urban Biomorphic.
The show has brought together the mechanical and emotional side of urban creatures. Young artists Sonia Mehta Chawla and Santosh Lal Pallath’s works were featured at the show.. Eminent artists Paresh Maitey and Jayasri Burman, attended the preview and encouraged the artists.
Maitey said, “It is a very original concept treated with truth.”
Burman said, “I can’t choose the best painting because all of them are equally good. Hard work and seriousness about the profession are strikingly seen in these works.”
Artist Shamshad Hussain, also encouraged the artists and said, “It is an interesting show that has come out really well. I wish them all the best.” The artists, Sonia and Santosh felt it was a challenging concept to work on. Sonia said, “The message is universal. I have celebrated urbanisation.”
Santosh added, “I am not stylistic but I work on ideas. I have used free patterns to depict my thoughts.”
(The exhibition is being showcased at Gallerie Navya till April 15.)
