How to deal with the common problem of Dandruff?

This is something that everyone has experienced and suffered some time or the other. Dandruff is the presence of tiny whitish flakes on the scalp and the hair. Medically it is known as ‘pityriasis' and this can affect people of all ages- from early teens to old age.
The primary cause of dandruff is the excessive shedding of outermost cells. It could also be caused due to an imbalanced diet, poor blood circulation, unclean hair, over usage of shampoo and not rinsing the hair after shampooing.

Hot oil therapy – massage your head regularly with hot oil.
Lime therapy- dip a halved lime in hot oil and scrub on your scalp. Let it remain for 15 minutes and wash off thoroughly.
Antiseptic lotion treatment. If the itching is really bad, you could apply antiseptic lotion and wash off after 15 minutes.
You could also try a Henna treatment.
Waxy type dandruff - causes
Here dandruff is mixed with sebum which makes the scalp itchy. As a result scales could tear off and start to bleed or ooze.
Keep the scalp clean by shampooing regularly with a herbal shampoo.
Massage your hair with hot oil twice in a week.
If you are using anti dandruff shampoo (ensure you buy the shampoo from a reputed company even if it's slightly expensive) first of all be patient. It takes time. Secondly change the shampoo every four weeks, as otherwise the dandruff will be immune to it.
Massage scalp with essential oils like rosemary, cedar, lemon and eucalyptus.
Soak Methi seeds overnight, grind the next morning, mix in the juice of neem leaves and apply on the scalp. Wash off after 15 minutes. Warm olive oil lightly with a little of camphor and apply on the scalp parting the hair straight and then massaging the scalp in circular movements with your finger tips.
The main thing is to remember there is a solution to every problem.
