Power of touch
Inspiration can come in any form and from any source. Renowned fashion designer Ritu Beri recently showcased a line that drew from the new range of the touch-enabled Photosmart printers of Hewlett-Packard India.
The new ensemble resonated with chic and elegance. Looking every inch the style diva herself, in a short black knitted dress and boots, the designer said, “I have the HP printer in my office. I like to see my son's pictures instantly, which the printer allows.”
These stylishly designed printers allow printing wirelessly, wherever you want, and can connect to the internet without the need of a computer.
Fight against obesity
On the occasion of the 10th Anti-Obesity Day, which passed recently, VLCC, a known name in the area of slimming and fitness, launched two websites — www.antiobesitydrive.com and www.endoffattness.com – to educate the masses on health and fitness. “The most common reason for weight gain is lack of knowledge on what to eat and when. The website will provide health tips from around the world,” said Vandana Luthra, founder, VLCC. Also present on the occasion was legendary cricketer Kapil Dev, who said that people marred by a sedentary lifestyle and lack of awareness are its victims. He emphasised the role of sports in this arena.
The Great Khali in jail
Bhangra beats and Bollywood numbers reverberated in Tihar Jail recently when the WWE wrestler Khali visited its jail number 5 to meet the young inmates there.
Director-General of Prisons, B.K. Gupta, and Deepak Raja of Laughter Challenge fame were also present.
While his inspiring words lifted the spirits of the inmates, the bhangra dance, an act by the stand-up comedian, provided complete entertainment to the inhabitants. The seven-foot-three-inch- tall wrestler applauded the efforts of young prisoners participating in the Tihar Olympics and also appealed to them to adopt a disciplined life.
