December has brought back the nip in the air. It also heralds the oncoming season of Christmas and sure enough, you can hear the strains of some favourite carols. Soaking of fruits for the yummy plum cake and shopping for new clothes or gifts — all these activities will soon keep everyone busy.
To start off this magical season, last week, the Catecumenical team along with the youth and children of the Holy Trinity Parish, Begumpet, organised an evening filled with dance and music, with the approval of the parish clergy and council. The last minute change of venue from the church grounds, which was flooded with sewage water, to St. Francis Degree College did not seem to dampen the enthusiasm and vigour of the youth and children. The age group of participants ranged from 4 to 25years. The show started with a welcome song, a prayer dance, a hilarious Christmas skit and an energetic and well choreographed dance routine. Many guest choirs from other parishes in the city too came to participate in the celebration of Christmas.
The final item for the evening was an enactment of the The Nativity. This tableau was joined by a melodious choir; with the superb sound and light it was a fitting start to the season of Christmas. For those keen to buy some early gifts, there were a few stalls selling handmade Christmas decorations and home-made chocolates.
