Buoyed up by India’s triumph in Australia, cricketer Sreesanth is all set to take on South Africa
The dancing boy of Indian cricket, Sreesanth, is trying to keep his feet on the ground after the team’s triumphant tour of Australia recently.
Promising to use the lessons of the controversial tour in the just begun South African series, he says, “I’m trying to get my basics right, I’m concentrating more on my line and length.”
Sreesanth is not happy if people question his economy rate, arguing he was not the only bowler to get the stick in Australia. For all the runs he gave on the field and the attention he got for his gimmicks and off-the-field remarks, the tour was nothing short of a miracle for the Kerala speedster, laid low earlier in the season due to a shoulder injury.
One of the up-and-coming stars of Indian cricket, Sreesanth is in great demand at most functions. What the media now wants to know is about his friendship with Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra, with whom he is doing an advertisement campaign.
“It is the Bollywood heroines who run after the cricketers, not the other way round. You will find film stars in cricket stadiums but not cricketers at film shootings. As far as Priyanka is concerned we are just friends and we met for the shooting of a commercial.”
About the South Africa series? “I am confident we will do well. Beating Australia in Australia was a big tonic. We can derive strength from that victory.”S. M. AAMIR
