A n interesting emerging fact in this changing food scenario is that the imported foods have a vibrant demand in Central Travancore as opposed to Alappuzha and Kollam zones. It has even brisker sale than Thiruvanathapuram, believe many insiders. This is a direct pointer to the number of people who live and travel abroad and kids who are familiar with these foods. “It is a demand driven market,” says Verghese who supplies imported food items to stores in Thiruvalla, Changanassery, Pathanamthitta and Kozhencherry.

In Alappuzha and Kollam, he says that Indian food brands do well. Surprisingly Kozhikode is not in the picture yet despite it seeing major outside exposure over the years.
