Ekta Kapoor goes online to choose the cast for her forthcoming soap, `Kis Rishtey Se'
Balaji Telefilms Limited is at it again. After presenting successful serials such as Kasam Se and Kyunki..., it's time for yet another saga. Said to be based on a popular novel, the script will be penned by Bollywood biggies as the serial is slated to be positioned against Nach Baliye on prime time. Titled Kis Rishtey Se, the new soap to be aired on STAR One, has Shabbir Ahluwalia and Karan Wahi for male leads and Ronit in a cameo. As for the actresses for this story about two stepsisters, the hunt is on. But this time online, as Ekta Kapoor plans to conduct the search for the leading ladies on www.bajaa.com."We were looking for classifieds as an option for inviting entries. Online option sounded innovative, as it would be spanning many cities. It is a different medium of communication to reach out to the youth. There are no auditions. Aspiring actors only have to send their pictures and details. We have been getting hits from Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad," says Ekta Kapoor, creative director, Balaji Telefilms Limited. The two-month-old website is popular with users for posting advertisements for goods, sales and services. "The ShowBiz section was introduced just recently," says Chaitanya Kapadia, CEO, Bajaa.com. As for those who want to give it a try, "actors, actresses, writers and other professionals can create their own profiles in the ShowBiz section of www.baajaa.com using the `Post a FREE Ad' button. They can also attach pictures to their profiles. It can take as little as 20 seconds to create your profile," says Kapadia. More on the soap. "It will be a family story with a difference and is targeted at the urban audience," says Ekta. Kis Rishtey Se is slated to hit the tube by month end.
