Travellers on the Parasuram Express on March 27 will be educated on ways to reduce, reuse and recycle waste
Government of India Nehru Yuva Kendra, Thiruvananthapuram, Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Kerala, and Rajiv Gandhi Centre, Venganoor, conduct ‘Waste Makes Wealth,' a youth campaign on total sanitation aboard the Parasuram Express from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasaragod, on March 27.
Hundred volunteers from Nehru Yuva Kendra dressed in blue T-shirts and blue and white caps with logos stating ‘Waste makes wealth: Youth for sanitation' will hand out IEC (information, education and communication) material to the passengers on the train and at main railway stations.
The six-page pamphlet contains information on how to reduce, reuse and recycle waste. The volunteers will also conduct a quiz on ‘Waste Makes Wealth,' and winners will win spot prizes.
In the meantime, a man and his pet monkey (a puppet) will try to raise awareness on ways to reduce, reuse and recycle waste. The campaign starts at 6.20 a.m. and ends at 7 p.m.
