Launch Of model-actor Bipasha Basu’s fashion accessory website The Trunk Label
Uncertain moments during a shopping spree...not many of us are strangers to that. Wedges or kitten heels? Floral printed scarves or animal prints? Neon bangles or metallic cuffs? It’s always reassuring to have someone fashion savvy approving of what’s in our shopping cart. And when that someone is the modish Bipasha Basu and her team of style experts you can be rest assured of stepping out looking every bit like the diva. In keeping with the global trend of celebrities turning designers or launching their fashion label Bipasha too joins the bandwagon with the launch of her website The Trunk Label.
“I started working in the film and modelling industry at a very young age. So, I was exposed to the world of fashion and glamour early on. I have worked with almost all the photographers and designers, and shot with numerous magazines, so I would like to believe that I’m clued in to fashion. That’s what motivated me to start this accessories label with The Label Corp,” says Bipasha about her online venture.
There are three Fs that the actor has always wanted to focus on — Fitness, Fashion and Food. The fitness bit we know about given her fabulous figure and the launch of her fitness DVDs and clothing line under the ‘BB Love Yourself’ label. Next in line was fashion. “I can offer my expertise because I have been observing the difference accessories can make to your image, and I wanted to share this with others. Hence I am offering my line of accessories. I firmly believe that bags, shoes and jewellery add the final touch to your dressing and lend the ‘wow’ factor to your looks,” she adds.
The website has a collection of shoes, bags, jewellery and belts, all curated by Bipasha. Unlike most websites, this will have a limited edition collection to maintain the exclusivity factor. After all, none of us would like to end up at a party wearing the same statement neckpiece. “New pieces will be added every month. Also, we are keeping small details in mind, like making nickel-free jewellery to make sure it does not tarnish. There will be style experts telling you how to put together the accessories so that you don’t go wrong with the styling,” she adds.
This being the party season, the launch collection’s accent is on the glitter quotient, metallic pieces and lots of black and gold. The model-turned actor knows the importance of shopping on a budget and that’s why the pricing is fairly “pocket-friendly.” “No piece is above Rs.3,000.”
Talking about style, Bipasha says, her personal style depends on how she’s feeling that day. “If I feel like dressing up, then I turn to glamorous pieces and if I am feeling low I like to keep it casual and comfortable. When I go out with friends I tend to wear a lot of maxi dresses and chunky jewellery.”
And what’s her favourite from the collection? “I love all the jewellery pieces! My favourite shoes are the polka dot pumps and black and gold wedges. Since we’re launching in December, the month of celebrations, my preferred look would be pairing the black and gold glitter clutch with the statement gold cuff and my favourite wedges from the collection.”
