Indi pop and progressive rock storm the stands this week
Love StoryShaan/EMI With hit singles from Jhankaar Beats, Fanaa, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, Don, Salaam-e-Ishq and counting read Pehli Nazar Ka Pyaar, Jimmy and Marigold, Shantanu Mukherjee a.k.a Shaan returns with some non filmy compilation. Featuring numbers taken from his earlier covers, this mushy ballad rich album features title tracks from Tishnagi, Tanha Dil, Aksar and more. The songs, composed by Ram Sampat and Shaan himself, are some of the crooner's favourite tracks. And well Shaan incidentally pens all the lyrics in the album. Lend an ear.
The Best Of AcousticJethro Tull/EMIThe progressive rock act from Luton is known for the haunting vocals and the flute work. Frontman Ian Anderson is said to have re learned playing flute in 1992 and what followed were Ian Anderson live double album and DVD Ian Anderson Plays the Orchestral Jethro Tull released in 2005 and a couple of other unplugged covers. For the current album that features acoustic versions of some of their finest songs, the track listing was compiled by Ian Anderson who picked some of the popular singles apart from throwing in some of his personal favourites. Extended acoustic sections delicately poised in the midst of riff mayhem is what the cover holds. Mandolins, mouth organ, acoustic piano, harpsichord, accordion, marimba, bongos, tabla, violin, acoustic bass and flute along with instruments from symphony make for vivid styles, tempos and moods. Time for some real music then. Bonus tracks include those recorded live in concert.SYEDA FARIDA
