Varna, a terracotta and handicraft store in Malleswaram presents Ganeshotsav, an exhibition-cum-sale of Ganesha idols.

The ongoing exhibition features Ganesha idols from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and other states. The idols are in materials as varied as wood, fibre, brass, crystal, sand, sola pith (cork), white metal etc. The collection includes Ganeshas dressed as lawyers and doctors, and in various traditional forms such as naatya Ganapati, Dasahavatara Ganapati, pancha vaadya Ganapati etc.

The exhibition will continue till September 19, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Pranathi Hall, #97/3, East Park Road, 19{+t}{+h}cross, Malleswaram (next to Post Office). Call 99001-08575 or check


The Malleshwaram-based traditional food restaurant Halli Mane is undergoing a transformation to mark the Gowri-Ganesha festival this year. On September 18 and 19, the restaurant’s premises will wear a festival look, with all the typical decorations, complete with rangolis and idols.

Of course, there’s also special fare for the taking, as part of the “experience” being offered. Between 12p.m. and 3.30p.m and 7p.m.-10.30p.m, the restaurant will feature items such as avalakki, panchakajjaya, mango chutney, pineapple gojju, karikadubu, modaka and chakkli, to name a few.

Parcel services are also available, at the rate of Rs. 225. The dine-in charges are Rs. 225 for adults and Rs. 150 for children.
