You can also do the following exercises after seeking your doctor's advice. First, lie on the floor on your back, feet together and arms at the sides. Lift your legs about six inches above the ground and hold this position for a count of ten. Then lower your legs to the floor. Repeat this exercise 3 to 4 times and increase gradually. Then, keep lying on the floor, the same way. Bend your knees and keep your feet flat on the floor. Raise your body to a half-sitting position, holding your arms stretched out before you. Lower your body to the floor and repeat 3 or 4 times. Take a look at your eating habits. Avoid eating desserts after meals and stick to fresh fruits. Take clear soups (without butter) and salads before the main dish. Avoid rich gravies. Cut down on your intake of cereals. For example, if you have been eating three chapatis, eat only two. Or, eat only one cup of cooked rice. Eat fresh fruits, salads, sprouts, curd and paneer made from skimmed milk and lightly cooked vegetables. If you feel like a snack, eat fruit, carrot or cucumber. My 14-year-old son has pimples on his forehead. He has dandruff too. - SimaDandruff can lead to pimples. Your son should wash his hair daily, using very little shampoo (only half teaspoon), diluting it with a little water before using it. Half-an-hour before shampooing, he can massage one tablespoon of vinegar lightly into the scalp. Once the dandruff is controlled, the pimple problem will also subside. He should wipe his face with an astringent lotion after cleansing, and apply sandalwood paste once a day, leaving it on for an hour or two.I have curly and dry hair. Include fresh fruits, leafy green vegetables, sprouts, soya bean and curd in your daily diet. Do deep breathing exercises daily. Once or twice a week heat pure coconut oil and apply it on the scalp and hair. Then dip a towel in hot water, squeeze out the water and wrap the towel around the head, like a turban. Keep it on for 5 minutes. Repeat the hot towel wrap 3 or 4 times. This helps the hair and scalp absorb the oil better. Use a mild herbal shampoo. Use less shampoo and rinse well with water. You can apply a conditioner after your shampoo. It helps soften the hair. I have oily skin with pimple marks. How can I make my skin glow? - AnithaUse a facial scrub daily. Concentrate on the marks while using the scrub, rubbing gently with circular movements. Wash with water. The use of a scrub helps remove dead skin and makes the skin clearer. After cleansing, tone the skin with rose water. Soak cotton wool in rose water and pat it briskly on the skin. Mix one teaspoon of honey and one teaspoon of lemon juice with egg white and apply it daily, washing it off after 20 minutes.I have oily skin. I never had acne, but for the last 6-7months they have been appearing and leaving spots. Also, can I use cold cream in winter? - RahulYou should not use cold cream on the face if you have acne. It will clog the pores and cause further eruptions. You should use a medicated soap or medicated cleanser only twice a day, morning and night. Wipe your face with an astringent lotion, using cotton wool, 2 or 3 times a day. Apply sandalwood paste on the acne. Once a day, mix one teaspoon of honey with two teaspoons of curd and apply it on the entire face, washing it off after 20 minutes. It will relieve dryness and help the acne problem. My hair is curly, bushy and dry. I want it to look good. I thought of straightening it, but I am told the texture will suffer. - MercyYes, straightening can damage the hair. Use a conditioner after a shampoo. A leave-on conditioner may help. Twice a week, heat one tablespoon of pure coconut oil mixed with one teaspoon of castor oil and apply it on the scalp, the night before shampooing. If you want to straighten your hair, use a hair dryer. After washing the hair, while it is still damp, divide it into sections. Hold the end of a section with a comb or brush, straight and slightly downwards. Use the dryer. Repeat this with each section. Hold the dryer at least six inches away from the hair. Note that excessive use of a dryer can make the hair dry.
