“Sunfeast presents Neengalum Vellalam Oru Kodi powered by Cadbury Dairy Milk”, a joint endeavour of Vijay TV and Big Synergy, hit television screens on February 27, and will air Monday-Thursday at 8 p.m. Hosted by actor Suriya, the show, which marks his television debut, promises a whopping Rs.1 crore to the winner, a sum that can change an ordinary man's life forever.

The call for entries was made on Vijay TV on December 25. Auditions were held in Coimbatore, Tiruchi and Chennai, and contestants who answered simple questions in the preliminary tests were chosen. Numerous people from various places have been selected to take the hot seat opposite Suriya. There are many contests for the viewers too, and they can answer and win prizes while watching the show.

Says Suriya, “From the moment I walked on to the sets of “Who wants to be a millionaire?”, I knew this was more than a mere game show. I can assure you that it is not only about money but about people, their lives, the relevance of money, and different perceptions of it across varied strata of our society.”

Siddhartha Basu, CMD, BIG Synergy, and producer of the show in India, says, “It has proved to be a game-changer not only in India, but also in almost every part of the world. In collaboration with the Star channels — Asianet, Suvarna, and Vijay — we bring this global success to the people of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Malayalam, in their mother tongue, with content and a heartbeat that's completely local. The response to the calls for entry to the Tamil show has been huge, and the scale of production and participation is possibly the biggest seen so far in the southern region. I hope viewers will enjoy the show as a thrilling knowledge game with terrific human drama.”
