Arjun Bajwa to play Nag’s brother in ‘King’

Things have been on an up-swing for Arjun Bajwa post-Deepavali. Given the applause for Madhur Bhandarkar’s Fashion, there’s no suspense to why Arjun is exercising his jaw muscles. “Oh, the response has been amazing,” a gung-ho Arjun says. Fashion has brought him accolades and the young actor is loving all the buzz. “Ever since Fashion released, people have been calling me and SMSing that they have liked the movie and also my performance. But I am missing all the action as I am shooting for King,” says Arjun expressing his disappointment.

Arjun Bajwa a.k.a Deepak to this part of the world is not new to Telugu films. In fact, he has done six films till now (his debut Telugu film Sampangi made enough noise at the BO), and there are two more ‘interesting’ films lined up with Nagarjuna and Balakrishna. “I am playing Nag’s brother in King, which is being directed by Seenu Vytla,” says Arjun.

His role is different as he is ‘some sort of a conspirator, who is believed to be a bad guy. But the surprise is at the end.’ In a yet-to-be-titled Balakrishna-Priyamani starrer, Arjun plays a negative character and in a film with Anushka, he plays the lead role.

Arjun is happy switching roles and is comfortable doing Telugu films too. “I guess that’s why we actors are known for and are paid too,” he says. In Guru, he played a stylish but arrogant golf-playing contractor, in Fashion, his role was of an upcoming model, a no-nonsense guy who is romantically paired opposite Priyanka Chopra.

To the comment that Fashion is more about supermodels and their lives, Arjun says, “The movie is not entirely about Priyanka, Kangana and Mugdha, as each character is like a link to the whole story. Madhur had etched the characters well and each one had to do accordingly.”

Arjun had some funny moments while shooting for Sampangi. “The muhurat clap was given by ANR garu and I had to say a few dialogues. I mumbled some lines but had absolutely no idea of what I was saying. It was good fun,” he recollects.

Now, Arjun might not speak good Telugu but he understands the language well. Finally, what is his real name – Arjun or Deepak. “Well, Arjun Bajwa is a name given by my father and Deepak was what my uncles and aunts called me.”
