She is a role model for other aspiring cinema and TV artists. Her views about how she encouraged her husband Sunder C to don the role of hero in a film, and her devotion to her children despite being a busy star, belie the impression that women artists lead a miserable life due to matrimonial failure or that they commit suicide out of sheer dejection.

I happened to see her act as Avvaiyar in the “Thiruvilayadal” drama serial on the small screen recently. Her acting skills, which could be placed on a par with that of K.B.Sundarambal, left me spellbound. What grace, what delivery and what a rendering of the song in praise of Lord Muruga!
