With a role in Amitabh Bachchan starrer, an item song, a cameo, and a musical behind her, MTV VJ Anusha Dandekar is looking forward to her music band and an upcoming album. Anusha has formed an all-girl band with her two sisters Apeksha and Shibani. The trio is working on their first music album, Tihai, coming out in September. “Ever since I was 14, I wanted to form a band but my sisters didn’t believe me then. I used to sing in high school and my younger sister Apeksha is classically trained. All of us have sung the songs. We all will be dancing in the music video to be shot in Hong Kong soon,” says the spunky VJ who was in town recently along with MTV Roadies’ VJ Rannvijay Singh to attend the Grand Finale of the “Finger Football” with fans at Adidas store.

The album is an assimilation of pop and R&B. Songs will be primarily in English with a smattering of Hindi and Punjabi. “India is the flavour of the season. Be it fashion shows or music but we didn’t even have a girl band. We will show the world. We are going to be doing a lot of live concerts. Our songs are sounding fun. Hope everyone likes it,” says a visibly-excited Anusha.

Anusha currently hosts “Style Check”, “LoveBytes” “Crazy Sexy” and “Wear Their Skin” on MTV. She recently toured UK and Europe as part of the musical “Miss Bollywood” where she starred alongside Shilpa Shetty. It was choreographed by Ganesh Hegde.

But has this tele-talker bid adieu to Bollywood where she started off with a sizzling item number “Loot Gaye” in “Mumbai Matinee”? “I turned down two big offers when “Miss Bollywood” was on. I am just being selective like I have always been. I don’t want to do something stupid where people would say ‘what has she done’,” says Anusha.

The singer feels that her roles as Jenny, the foreigner daughter-in-law in “Viruddh” opposite John Abraham and her cameo in the Sanjay Dutt-Arshad Warsi starrer “Anthony Kaun Hai” suited her well. “After all of this, I realised I want to get back to television,” says Anusha who of late has been linked-up with actor Riteish Deshmukh. When asked about it, she exclaimed: “It is not true. Absolutely baseless. I don’t know from where people get these false stories.”
