VJ Anusha Dandekar has formed an all-girls band with her sisters

With a role in an Amitabh Bachchan starrer, an item song, a cameo, and a musical behind her and her career as a VJ going strong, MTV VJ Anusha Dandekar is now looking forward to her music band and upcoming album. Anusha has formed an all-girl band with her sisters Apeksha and Shibani. The trio is working on its music album, Tihai, coming up in September.

“I wanted to form a band since I was 14, but my sisters didn’t believe me. I used to sing in high school and my younger sister Apeksha is classically trained. All of us have sung, and we will all be dancing in the music video to be shot in Hong Kong,” says the spunky VJ.

Fun songs

The album has elements of pop, R&B and Indian fusion. “Our songs are sounding fun. They are primarily in English, with sprinklings of Hindi and Punjabi” she says.

“India is the flavour everywhere, be it fashion shows or music, and we are having an all-girl band after a long time. We are going to do a lot of live concerts,” adds an excited Anusha.

Anusha currently hosts Style Check, LoveBytes, Crazy Sexy Cool.com and Wear Their Skin on MTV. She has recently toured the U.K. and Europe for the musical, ‘Miss Bollywood’ starring Shilpa Shetty and her. It was choreographed by Ganesh Hegde.

Has she bid adieu to Bollywood, where she started off with a sizzling item number ‘Loot Gaye’ in Mumbai Matinee? “I turned down two big offers when ‘Miss Bollywood’ was on. I am just being very selective.”She rates her portrayal of ‘Jenny’, the foreign daughter-in-law in Viruddh (starring John Abraham and Amitabh Bachchan), and the cameo in the 2006 in Sanjay Dutt-Arshad Warsi starrer Anthony Kaun Hai as her best work.
