The Diamond Cave at Joyalukkas allows you a sneak peek into the journey of the precious stone
We’ve all been to jewellery stores before. They all do up their showroom in innovative ways, but this one takes the cake.
Joyalukkas, whose Chennai store claims to be the largest jewellery showroom in the world, now has something new to boast about with the launch of its ‘Diamond Cave’.
This unique concept provides customers an opportunity to experience the process of creating diamond jewellery, right from mining the stone to finally setting it in metal.
The cave starts off with a display about how diamonds are formed and where they are found. There is also a display of uncut diamonds, so you get to see what a rough diamond looks like. A diamond cutting machine (Did you know that diamonds, the hardest material known to man, can be cut only with instruments with a diamond head), and several sample pieces showing the various ways in which diamonds are cut, are a must-see.Quality check
The cave also helps customers know the criteria based on which a diamond is judged, and the process of designing and manufacturing jewellery.
A designer sits in the cave, demonstrating the use of design software. A goldsmith works on the design in front of your eyes, and sets the precious stones on a metal base.
Some of the most popular diamond settings are showcased as well, allowing you to recognise how yours is set.
A holistic jewellery shopping experience indeed!ADITI PRAKASH
