Music was celebrated in its true essence on the occasion of World Music Day last weekend. ‘Feel the music’, a gala evening organised byBig FM saw a host of celebrity singers coming together to entertain the audience.

The West Gate Mall, Rajouri Garden, was buzzing with people as singer Shibani Kashyap, Shankar Sawhney and Anamika, along with newcomers Anik Dhar and Harpreet — who got noticed when they were Sa Re Ga Ma Pa contestants — mesmerised the audience with their performances. .

Joining the singers were children from the National Association for the Blind and Rajendra Ashram Orphanage, who got an opportunity to sing along with their favourite stars.

The audience couldn’t stop clapping when Ankur Gupta joined Shibani to sing “Ho Gayi Hai Mohabbat”. Shankar’s “Glassy” and Anamika’s “Kahin Karta Hoga” were a hit too.

The emcees of the evening were popular Big FM RJs Sujata, Payal, Neeti and Nitin, who kept the audience engrossed with their chitchat and occasional jokes.

The evening was organised to initiate a simple yet deep thought — music is not just heard but felt. And it is keeping this thought in mind that the visually-challenged children were invited to be a special part of the extravaganza.

Speaking at the event, “Professor C. D. Tamboli, Director – Education, National Association for Blind, said, “We are very happy to bring our children for this event. Music is such a beautiful expression of feelings. We wanted our children to be a part of such amazing performances.”
