Misinterpretation

print   ·   T  T

I fail to understand the motive behind the dangerous distortion and misinterpretation of the Union Health Minister’s genuine interest towards the well being of fellow countrymen. What is wrong in calling for a ban on smoking and drinking in films? Film stars and celebrities have the right to indulge in such activities in private, but, in films, they should demonstrate a social responsibility. Most of the youngsters identify their role-models in the characters portrayed by film artistes. It is unclear as to what hardships a film star may undergo by banning smoking, drinking in the silver screen. If glorifying such nauseating acts in films is not stopped, we will have a self-imposed ban on such films.
