MUSIC Listen to ‘Messa Di Gloria’ on November 18

The choir of the Madras Musical Association will present Giacomo Puccini’s composition ‘Messa Di Gloria’. The composition is in five parts — Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus (and Benedictus) and Agnus Dei. Said to have been one of Puccini’s early works, it was not known to the music world for over 40 years. It was brought back in the 1950s and since then has been a well-loved piece of music all over the world. The 70-strong choir is conducted by Augustine Paul, and Edwin Roy plays the piano. The soloists for the evening are Ebenezer Arunkumar, Arpith Sironmoney, Aashish, Kingslin and Nadisha Thomas.

It will be presented at 6 p.m. on November 18 at Egmore Wesley Church. This 60-minute rendition will be part of the evensong and part of the fund-raising for the restoration of the pipe organ in the church.
