Yet another product has hopped on the anti-ageing bandwagon

"It's never too late or too early to intervene on your skin's behalf," said Ruchika Tharanee, Promotional Manager, La Prairie, the upmarket Swiss chain specialising in skincare. She was launched the La Prairie's new Anti-aging Complex Cream at The Oberoi recently."Nothing known to mankind can stop the ageing process; but there can be methodically formulated ingredients that help restrain the process or cure the elementary ageing signs on the skin," continued Ruchika. The beautician from Mumbai, who has specialised in cosmetic chemistry, has worked with dermatologists to know the finer nuances of the delicate human cover. The interactive session on skin and beauty had a live 20-minute demo of the exact application with explanations from Ruchika about the `nutrient enhance' that apparently helps sustain a youthful look that boosts a party-goer's spirits.Heat, cold, travel, pollution, stress, controlled air-conditioned atmosphere and free radicals in the air ... there are several factors that can have a bearing on your skin explained an audio-visual at the start. The invisible damage process, known as the `chronic silent inflammation' is not a surface reaction but occurs in the deeper layers and alters the skin cells to show up signs of ageing gradually. The external aggressors - sun exposure and environmental pollution - trigger the ageing process. Then there are also irritation due to moisture loss, and protein and lipid destruction. Accelerating the ageing process, the degenerative processes of tissue-balance-destruction can kick-start with dry skin and laugh lines. Result: deepened wrinkles, diminished youthful glow, and depleted collagen reserves that affectskin elasticity as well."The anti-aging complex cream was scientifically formulated to intervene and prevent moisture loss, fight free radicals and protect against environmental factors by working sub-terrain in your skin. Expression lines are relaxed as the cream enables effortless exfoliation," explained Ruchika, even as the lady - volunteer at the demo - taking the last round of the facial cream massage perhaps wished the whole `complex' business just worked! What about the complexity involved in affording to look young? The proactive cellular treatment augments, energises and nourishes with beta-hydroxyl acid derivatives, several pea and malt extracts, pollen extracts, soy bean oil, olive oil and wheat germ oil among other things with professional formulations from the state-of-the-art La Prairie labs of Switzerland. But then, Rs. 9,800 for a 100 ml box that lasts almost a year for a twice-a-day application shouldn't create a great hole in the pockets of the well-to-do who would like to remain forever young. The products are available at the La Prairie counter at Bangalore Central.RANJANI GOVIND
