A s winter sets in, the performance calendar at various venues in the Capital gets more and more crowded. Along with stalwarts bringing their time-proven talents are youngsters trying to woo audiences of their own. Among them this weekend is Piyathi Kuruvilla, who performs her Bharatanatyam arangetram at the India International Centre auditorium this Sunday, 6 p.m.

A disciple of well known guru of Delhi, Saroja Vaidyanathan, Piyathi studies at the Convent of Jesus & Mary.

Dance, they say is both a science and an art. Lucky for Piyathi then, that she not only enjoys music, painting, drawing and sports, but also scores high ranks in Maths and Science Olympiads. Gone are the days when people could say those who can't excel at studies might as well learn an art form! Piyathi is an academic topper. As if to seal the issue, Sister Janet, Principal, Convent of Jesus & Mary, will be among the guests of honour at the debut performance.
