Karu Pazhaniappan is among the crop of promising young directors in Tamil cinema. His maiden directorial venture "Parthiban Kanavu" received critical acclaim and was a roaring success at the box office as well. Pazhaniappan is back with "Sivapathikaaram", a gripping film with a social message. Vishal plays a research student who goes to Theni with a mission in mind and Raghuvaran plays his professor. Mamta Mohandas provides the necessary oomph and the eight songs tuned by Vidyasagar are melodious. Says Pazhaniappan: "The highlight of the film is the climax shot at Madurai Azhagar festival in which over five lakh people took part".SREEDHAR PILLAI
