The Hindu MetroPlus Lifestyle Show, on at the CTC till June 8, has an interesting mix of products to suit varied tastes and pockets
It’s become an important date in the shoppers’ calendar. Sweltering heat and traffic snarls don’t deter them from visiting The Hindu MetroPlus Lifestyle Show at the Chennai Trade Centre in the first week of June every year.
This year, the show presented by Samsung, features a host of attractions besides the usual line-up of stalls displaying the latest in technology and knick knacks for your interiors. Inaugurated by Kollywood’s music ace Harris Jayaraj, the lifestyle show, billed as South India’s largest consumer fair, has an interesting mix of products to suit varied tastes and pockets.
About 280 stalls dot the sprawling air-conditioned space at the CTC converting it into a one-stop destination for shoppers. On show is a mind-boggling range of consumer electronics, computer and IT products, automobiles and accessories, furniture and furnishing, kitchen accessories, home appliances, bathroom fittings, art and handicrafts, beauty and health care products, home needs, textiles and gift items. What’s more? Different brands showcase their products under one roof. Visitors can also get a sneak peek at special packages announced by certain clubs and resorts.
Goodies from Pakistan, Kenya and Thailand add an interesting international dimension to the show. From pretty artefacts to stunning accessories, you can get them all at these special stalls.
Samsung is the main sponsor of the event for the fifth successive year. At the Samsung stall, you can check out its high-end LED, LCD and plasma television sets. The co-sponsors of the event are Canon, Maruti Suzuki, Voltas, Moser Baer, SunDirect DTH, Propshell, Max New York Life Insurance Co., and Hewlett Packard India Sales.

It’s not all shopping for visitors to The Hindu MetroPlus Lifestyle Show. Those keen on revving up their adventurous spirit can ride the All Terrain Vehicle on a specially prepared track. Organised by Off Road Sports, Neelangarai, The Beast, as the vehicle is called, can battle tough terrain. There are specially designed bikes for kids too.
Children wishing to take a break from shopping can visit the My Kids World space where they can indulge themselves in carnival games, rides, balloon shooting and a host of other exciting activities.
