Music connoisseurs in the city are in for a treat. The Ragapriya-Chamber Music Club is celebrating its 44{+t}{+h}anniversary with a series of concerts spread over seven days.

The week long festival includes vocal recitals by Gayathri Venkataraghavan, S. Mahathi, Sikkil Gurucharan, Sanjay Subrahmanian and Pantula Raman. Also billed for performances are Ranjani and Gayathri for the inaugural day and Vijay Siva on the concluding evening.

To be held at Hotel Fortune Pandiyan, the music fest from July 28 to August 4 will have a day’s break on August 1. On all the other days, the programme will start at 6 p.m. The Ragapriya Music Club had a humble beginning under Dr. V. Srinivasan's aegis in 1969. The journey began at his home in the shape of unsophisticated classical music concerts, that is singers rendered without the mike. Since then it has grown much in size and popularity, in lines with its objective. On the completion of its silver jubilee in 1994, the club introduced the week-long anniversary series which is being followed till date.
