Meet journalist and writer Dominique Hoeltgen

Alliance Française of Madras presents a literary rendezvous with writer Dominique Hoeltgen on March 11 at their auditorium at 4.30 p.m. There will be discussion and debate on Hoeltgen's book Inde, La Revolution Par Les Femmes ( India, the Revolution by Women). The book is about famous and unknown women — actors, bankers, lawyers, entrepreneurs and rag pickers whose destinies provide insights into today's India, a harsh world accustomed to repeated tragedies.

According to the writer, Indian women play a remarkable role in shaping the future of an ever-changing country. From literary circles, shanty towns and the slopes of the Himalayas to the over-populated markets of the plains, Hoeltgen travelled widely across India for four years. A journalist and correspondent for L'Expansion in India since 2004, Hoeltgen in her 27 years of her career has worked in Japan, Italy, the U.S. and Algeria. As a freelance reporter, she has toured Asia and Africa writing for many newspapers and has been a pioneer in analysing the web as a social phenomenon.

Entry to the event is free. For details call 28279803, 28271477.
