The India International Garment Fair received great response from exporters and buyers
Into its 36th season, the India International Garment Fair, IIGF, was held recently at Pragati Maidan, wherein over 340 exporters from all over the country marked their presence. The participants showcased their Autumn/Winter 2006 collections. The fair received a phenomenal response with around 600 buyers from 65 countries, including some of the biggest International buyers like Max Mara and Morgane from Italy, HOBO Silk and Lotus Creations from the U.S. The mega show was organised by the Apparel Export Promotion Council.The IIGF also played host to a fashion show on a "bohemian" theme, the international look for 2006, where some of the leading models like Indrani Dasgupta, Nikita Anand and Ramneek Paintal walked the ramp. The fashion show exhibited a semi-formal and formal western range in bold prints. The collections ranged from apparel to accessories. The materials used included a lot of Lycra-mixed fabrics and wool, besides blended polyester. One could lay hands on a variety of pullovers, knitwear, leather garments, cocktail wear, and silk garments. The best display awards were also announced, with Pritam Goel, Chairman, International Garment Fair Association, and Yogendra Narayan, Secretary General, Rajya Sabha, giving away the awards. Maharana of India won the gold trophy, while Basant India Inc. and EnFin Exports walked away with the silver and bronze respectively. Others, who were accredited certificates of merit included Dynamic Design, Traditional Art, SAS International, Savue/Saffron and Pragya INTL.
