FASHION Fun and flirty yet traditional, it was a party on the ramp!
The first Vizag Fashion Week had its share of controversy but it did display some beautiful designs and introduced new trends to the city. The idea behind the show was to showcase the city as an ideal destination for a resort wedding and it managed to do that with some élan.
Fun, flirty but traditional and bright, the shows created a party atmosphere much like a wedding and the festivities that surround it. Riyaz and Reshma Gangji’s show titled Shimmering Sands was a party on the ramp. Kurtas in muted colours for men and short skirts with ruffles for women were the standout trends. Jules Idi Amin experimented with different designs and cuts for blouses and got innovative with a variety of drapes. Her show was inspired by a Spanish holiday. Shravan’s show was a big hit with the locals with many people at the event finding out where they could purchase his designs. Dresses by Rocky S, mostly in black were perfect to wear for a cocktail party before a wedding. The show was held just beside the ocean with the sea breeze cooling the evening, the ideal setting to showcase resort wear. Unfortunately, some sections took the term ‘showstopper’ quite literally and the last day’s show was cancelled. MONAPALI and Jattinn Kochhar were not able to showcase their collection.
