Rub shoulders with characters from Shakespeare's plays at a masked ball on June 25

Dancing, dining, dreaming... Yes, that's what the Shakespeare Millennium Club promises Chennai-ites on June 25, 7 p.m. onwards at GRT Grand, T. Nagar. The club is holding a Grand Masked Shakespearean Ball which will not only be the first of its kind to take place in the city, but will also be a glittering literary night out.The programme will be a mid summer night's dream with Caesars and Antonys, Cleopatras and Portias and hordes of Pucks, Touchstones and Ariels serving food and beverages, as you like it. Besides, there will be soulful music, stunning sideshows and prizes galore. The programme is being organised to raise funds for propagating Shakespeare and his wisdom among students and underprivileged children of the tsunami affected villages of Karikattukuppam and Kokilamedu in Tamil Nadu. The Shakespeare Millennium Club, under the auspices of PRICE Philip Rajaiah Institute of Continuing Education, has been functioning for the past four years, meeting every month at the Cosmopolitan Club with eminent academicians, legal luminaries, cadre officers and popular artistes occupying the guest of honour chair. The club has organised oratorical, quiz, painting, costume and rangoli competitions for schools and colleges. It has also instituted awards for distinguished women in various fields of expertise. The club is functioning at T22, Seventh Avenue, Besant Nagar.
