To celebrate women achievers from diverse fields, Vijay TV launched ‘Sigaram Thotta Pengal – Woman Achiever Awards' on March 4, at the Besant Nagar Beach in Chennai. The ceremony felicitated women from various walks of life such as Medicine, Arts, Education and Entertainment.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was given to 91-year-old-flautist Mrs. Saraswati Amma.

The other winners were Dr. Kamala Selvaraj (excellence in the field of Medicine), Mallika Badrinath (Culinary Art); Rehane (Fashion); Archana Kalpathi, CEO, AGS Cinemas (Entrepreneurship); Meenakshi Vijayakumar, India's First Fire Woman officer (Public Service); Priya Ramachandra (Bravery Award); Kavitha Selvaraj (Sport), Dr. Pooni M Concessao (Architecture); Mrs. B.K.K. Pillai, chairperson, Shrine Velankanni Institutions (Education); Anita Ratnam (Dance); Latha C. Mohan (Beauty and Hair Care); Abhinaya (Acting); Vanitha Mohan, Pricol (Social Service) and K.S. Chitra (Playback Singing).

The ‘Sigaram Thotta Pengal' awards function will be aired on Sunday, for two hours.

It's anthakshari time! Two teams from two colleges fight it in this music-based game which is anchored by playback singers M.L.R. Karthikeyan and Senthil Dass.

The channel invites participation from students of various colleges. It is produced by Galaxy Communications and directed by Vijayalakshmi Ramesh.

Written by Sekkizhar and directed by R.K., this mega, which opened on March 5, has a straightforward and strong-willed woman as the protagonist. Bharadwaj is the composer. The main cast comprises Rajkanth, Meena Kumari, Geetha Ravishankar, Sadhana and Kovai Anuradha.

Surya Puthri

The story revolves round the lives of an airhostess and a rich, frequent traveller. This serial produced by ‘Kutty' Padmini is a big budget affair. The story is also hers. Directed by Tamizh Bharati, with Keerthana as the creative director, the music for this mega has been composed by Imman.

The interactive show with popular personalities has Suhasini Maniratnam hosting it. This week you can watch her in conversation with Raghuram, dance master. His nostalgic trip includes anecdotes and experiences from the past, and his meeting with long-lost friends and relatives.
