With reference to the ‘Reinventing Silappadikaram’ (FR, Sept 6), writer Pradeep Chakravarty clarifies the following points:

In the paragraph beginning.. “U Ve Sa..”, it was Iravatham Mahadevan who wrote about it in Dinamani. He was its former editor. In the same paragraph, it is not ‘Kannagi Kottam’, but ‘Pathni Kottam.’ In the 5th paragraph, it should read, ‘Ilango wanted to document the golden era of the Sangam classics and Tolkappiyam. It is not the 5th century.

In the 7th paragraph, it should read, ' The docile and dutiful wife Kannagi in Puhar Kantam becomes a ferocious woman in Madurai Kantam.’
