Play ‘Veera Palnadu’ was an engrossing play.

Mayuri Natanalayam of Hyderabad, presented an engrossing play Veera Palanadu at Ravindra Bharati, under the aegis of Bharateeyam. The play was written and directed by P. Lakshmi Kulasekhar, noted verse playwright.

The play is cast on the lines of Mahabharata including the game of dice. Here in the play a cock fight replaces dice. Sakuni of Mahabharata here is Nagamma, a wily woman who has her own score to settle. Balachandrudu is replica of Abhimanyu, who gets killed in the battle.

The entire drama was run as a narrative from the two fighting cocks’ point of view. P.V. Subba Rao as Brahmanaidu, Surabhi Prabhavati as Nagamma, G. Adisekhar of Guntur as Malidevaraju and Manohararaju as Nalagamaraju were in main roles. T. Baburaju, Surabhi Sarita, Srinivas, T. Nagireddi, Surabhi Vengamamba and Dasari Sivaji figured in other roles.
