Theatre ‘Irayodu Maathramalla Samsarikendath’ will be premiered on March 8.
Abhinaya’s new production, ‘Irayodu Maathramalla Samsarikendath’, is akin to a compilation of snapshots of the state of women in Kerala. The play, which highlights atrocities against women, will be premiered at Government Women’s College, Vazhuthacaud, Thiruvanthapuram at 6.45 p.m. on March 8.
‘Irayodu Maathramalla Samsarikendath’ will be staged at Tagore Theatre, Kozhikode, on March 14 and Fine Arts Hall in Kochi on March 17. The 95-minute play is being produced under the auspices of the Department of Social Justice, Goverment of Kerala and Abhinaya Theatre Research Centre. Directed by M.G. Jyothish and D. Reghoothaman, the play comprises six monologues based on contemporary lives of women from different walks of life and social strata. Theatre actors Surabhi, Sujatha Jenanethri, Shailaja P. Ambu, Chinnu Kuruvila, Babila Khan and Parvathi along with actors Anil P., Gopalan, Pratheesh Raveendran, Ajaya Kumar, Atul and Baiju Korani essay the characters.
The play has an interactive pattern where audience reaction and discussions are also integrated into the form.
