The play Husnbazaar: Manto ki Auratein , conceptualised by Pritha Chakrabarti and directed by Aditya Majumdar, will be staged this Saturday, January 28, at Lamakaan, Road no.1, Banjara Hills; 7.30 p.m.

Manto's narratives are notorious for the boldness with which they delve into the seedy underbelly of 40s India to bring alive a different world. Husnbazaar revolves around three such stories — Mozail , Kali Salwar and Sau Candle Power Ka Bulb . Each story with its unique female protagonist is converted into a play that has a flavour of its own.

This production is the end product of a two-month long workshop, where students of The English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) came together and shaped themselves up through rigorous theatre exercises and night-long rehearsals. They are notoriously known as the Theatrewaley and their group has past and present students of the university.
