Koothu-p-Pattarai will stage `Naarai Sonna Kadhai' by Kanchana Thamodaran, Tamil short story writer, between January 19 and 28, daily at 7.00 pm. The venue will be at No. 1, Vaikasi Street, Chinmaya Nager, Stage-2, Virugambakkam. Naarai is the narrator. This story-teller's characters come alive and question Naarai about the manner in which they have been created and their limitations. They have travelled through all the stories written by Naarai and have interacted with all the characters in the compilation. So Naarai, who promised a plain tale is taken to task by them for presenting a turbulent piece. It is ultimately a collage drawn out of stories in Kanchana Thamodaran's compilation ingeniously integrated into a single play. For Koothu-p-Pattarai (KPP) it has been a challenge to raise the quality of its production with every play. KPP feels that it has accomplished its aim despiteobstacles, funds crunch and lack of support for contemporary Tamil theatre.Kanchana Thamodaran was born in Tirunelveli. She started her Tamil literary career in 1999. Her collection of short stories, "Varam," is both entertaining and thought-provoking. She has won numerous awards from Tamil literary magazines and international literary socities.
