An array of programmes has been organised in connection withthe 80th birthday of Sri Krishna Premi.
The devotees of Sri Krishna Premi have joined together to celebrate his 80th birthday at the Ayodhya Aswamedha Maha Mandapam, West Mambalam, Chennai. The event, spread over 83 days, will begin from June 5. Sri Krishna Premi has composed several thousands of kritis and granthas. His lectures on the Bhagavad Gita, Bhagavatam, Govinda Shathakam, Ramayanam and Mahabaratham always draw a huge crowd for its content and in depth treatment. They are now available in CDs too. He has written treatises on the above subject in Tamil.
The daily programme includes Pravachanam by eminent scholars including his disciples (8-10 a.m.), Chathur Veda Parayanam and Gana Parayanam by Vedic scholars (2-6 p.m.) and discourse on ‘Sampoorna Mahabaratha,’ by Sri Krishna Premi will take place between 7 and 9 p.m. followed by Dolotsavam. Kanakabishekam for Sri Krishna Premi Swamigal will be performed on August 26, the concluding day of the 83-day programme, at 11 a.m. preceded by Mrityunjya homam and Ayushyahomam. In the evening (4 p.m.), bhajan rally by leading bhajan groups is being planned when the idols of Sri Rukmini and Sri Pandurangan will be taken out in a procession around the streets of West Mambalam.
