H industani singer, Pushkar Lele, presents a programme called Kumar Gandharva Darshan.
Pushkar trained himself under Vijay Sardeshmukh and Satyasheel Deshpande. His teachers are both senior students of the late maestro, Kumar Gandharva. The event, says the singer, is an attempt to “present what I have been able to understand, assimilate and learn about the musical ideology of Kumar Gandharva”.
The programme will be in Hindi and will include audio-visual clippings of musician. There will also be clippings of interviews with some of his close associates and some of his rare photographs.
This programme, says Pushkar, also tries to give an overview of the vast musical contributions of Kumar Gandharva and includes traditional bandishes sung by him, Tarana — compositions from his thematic programmes on seasons namely Geet Vasant, Geet Varsha, Geet Hemant and Rituraaj Mehfil to name a few.
The young singer has travelled with this programme to Bijapur, Delhi and Sydney, where it was appreciated by music patrons and critiques. The singer will be accompanied by Suyog Kundalkar on harmonium, Sanjay Deshpande on tabla and Padmakar Gujar on pakhawaj-dholaki. The event will be held at Smriti Nandan, 15, Palace Road, Bangalore, at 6.30 p.m.
