There are a number of messages in Arul Movies ‘Manavan Ninaithal,’ but except the climax nothing gets into our minds.
Sakthi (Rithik) is an extraordinary student who comes first in the State in the Plus 2 examinations. He gets financial aid from the Chief Minister and others to study in college. Bad students in the college try to spoil his future by getting him into drugs and alcohol. In spite of all these things he comes first in the semester exams. He meets Nivetha (Athira) and falls in love with her. But she rejects him stating the difference in their status. When he comes to know that he has lost all — his character, money and also love — he decides to commit suicide.Nothing is new till actor-director K.Bhagyaraj enters the scene. The story gets interesting only in the last few minutes. Before one can sit up everything comes to a close.
K.Bhagyaraj still has the magic but he should concentrate more on his make-up and the way he is shown in the film. Both Rithik and Athira are clueless as to what they need to do in some of the scenes. Rithik is good in parts but he must fine tune himself in dancing and action sequences. Athira has a charming face but she is plump. If she reduces she may go places. Manivannan is wasted in a song, so also are Pandu, Anumohan and Singamuthu. Unfortunately the comedy has not in any way helped the movie but has only damaged it. Manobala as the professor has done justice to his role. Malini, Kottachi and Thenali are the others who have done good work in important roles. The camera work by Selvakumar is up to the mark.
Among the six songs ‘Kadhal Kollathe’ sung by Manickavinayagam and ‘Nee Perazhaga’ sung by Swarnalatha get the first two places. New music director V.Thashi must concentrate more on re-recording. Both the story and the screenplay are nothing new and the dialogue is average. Produced by P.K.Chandran the film is directed by S.P.Gnanamozhi.Manavan Ninaithal
