Talented children presented colourful events on the anniversary day.
The thirteenth Annual Day of Vedavalli Vidyalaya, was celebrated at the Open Air Auditorium of the school campus at Chennasamudram village, near Walajapet Town, recently. The theme of the show was `Glimpses of India past and present.'The Freedom Struggle, presented to the background music `Anumathiyom... Anumathiyom' in Tamil, sung by the Vidyalaya choir, aroused patriotic feelings in the viewers. It was a feast for the eyes when students brought on the stage a few dance forms of rural Tamil Nadu popularly known as `Nattupura Kalaigal' Kavadi, Oyilattam and Karagam.
Commendable arrayThe senior girls performed a fusion of Bharatanatyam and Kathak, which was well appreciated. The feature, `Gurukulam,' depicting the education system of ancient India, with scenes of Dronacharya training Bhima, Karna and Arjuna in archery and village pundits teaching Vedas to disciples entertained the audience. The senior girls presented a colourful folk dance to the song `Kaakaiyillaa Seemayilae,' which received thunderous applause. The tribal dances of Nagaland, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh were excellent. So was the Assamese Bihu Dance. `India is our Dream' was another commendable skit. AMUDHAN RAMASWAMI
