event ‘Swati Sangeetotsavam' is dedicated to Swati kritis.

T he annual ‘Swati Sangeetotsavam' at Kuthiramalika palace, Thiruvananthapuram, got off to a melodious start yesterday with a Carnatic vocal concert by Sanjay Subrahmanyam. In store for the next six days are classic concerts by stalwarts and a few up-and-coming singers.

On January 7 is a violin duet featuring S.R. Mahadeva Sarma and S.R Rajasree. They will be accompanied by B. Harikumar (mridangam) and Vaikom Gopalakrishnan (ghatam). On January 8 is a Carnatic vocal concert by Vidya Kalyanaraman. She will be accompanied by K.P. Nandini (violin), Trivandrum Balaji (mridangam), Uduppi Sridhar (ghatam) and Bhagyalakshmi M. Krishna (morsing).

On January 9, Aswati Tirunal Rama Varma takes to the stage for a Carnatic vocal concert. He will be accompanied by S. Varadarajan (violin), Patri Satish Kumar (mridangam), S. Karthick (ghatam) and Payyannur T. Govinda Prasad (morsing). On January 10 is a Carnatic vocal concert by Amrutha Venkatesh. She will be accompanied by Edapally Ajith (violin), Palakkad Maheshkumar (mridangam), S. Karthick (ghatam) and Payyannur T. Govinda Prasad (morsing). Listen to Hindustani rags at a vocal concert by Pandit Ajoy Chakraborthy on January 11. Vocalist R.K. Padmanabha's concert brings this year's edition of the festival to a close on January 12. He will be accompanied by C.N. Chandrasekhar (violin), Cheluvaraj (mridangam) and P.L. Sudheer (ghatam).
