‘Bullet’ centres on the investigation in a murder case.

One wonders if the saffron-clad Suresh Gopi is acting as a god man.

“His character, Kallampalli Manakkal Parasuramappatteri, comes from a low-income family. As his family could not afford good clothes, he is forced to don a strange attire, which soon becomes his permanent costume,” clarifies scenarist K.S. Noushad.

Costume designer too

“I was the one who designed the costume. I was inspired after I heard the storyline,” says Suresh Gopi during a break in the midst of the shoot of his latest movie, ‘Bullet.’

He soon gets ready for his next scene with Cochin Haneefa and Thirumala Chandran. Vinod Kaitharam reads out a dialogue for the scene, and Suresh Gopi repeats it effortlessly.

According to Suresh Gopi, ‘Bullet’ is a commercial film. The actor is upbeat about his upcoming projects with directors like T.V. Chandran, Jayaraj and Lenin Rajendran. The story of ‘Bullet’ centres on a murder case in which the lead characters, Parasuramappatteri and Gayatri (Pavithra), get enmeshed for no fault of theirs.

“I play a top singer in a reality show,” explains Pavithra, a Bombay-based interior designer who made her debut in Malayalam in ‘Kruthyam,’ opposite Prithviraj. She says her character in ‘Bullet’ “wears modern clothes” and is “a little glamorous” when compared to her role in ‘Kruthyam.’

Produced by Nazim Vellila under the banner of Malayil Movie International, ‘Bullet’ is directed by Nizar whose earlier films include ‘Sudinam,’ ‘Three Men Army,’ ‘Patanayakan’ and ‘British Market.’ “It is after a three-year gap that I am making a film. I am fortunate to have an actor like Suresh Gopi in my venture,” he says.

The film, shooting for which started on February 20, is being completed in locations in and around Malampuzha and Eranakulam.

Big-budget film

‘Bullet’ is a big-budget movie and has a big star cast. “We have to arrange the sets for the reality show at Ernakulam,” says Noushad, who had scripted ‘British Market.’

Kalabhavan Mani plays a cop named Wahid Abdul Rahiman Haji, who is assigned the task of unravelling the murder mystery.

Cochin Haneefa is Uttaman Vellayani, programme producer of the reality show called ‘Singer Star.’ Rajan P. Dev (Ganga Prasad) and Devan (Yamuna Prasad) act as two music directors who appear as judges in the reality show.

Mamukkoya (Chandramani), Indrans (Premasulal), Saikumar (Mayakkannan), Innocent (Mahadevan), Tamil actor Ravishankar (Karthik) and Kottayam Nazeer are some of the other actors.

Anil Gopinath wields the camera. P. Prakash has penned the lyrics. Stills are by Anil Vandana. The film is slated to reach theatres after Vishu.
