Jayanthi celebrations

Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peeta Carnataka Sangeetha Seva Trust is celebrating Tiruvarur Music Trinity Jayanthi and conducting its 22nd Carnatic music festival at Tiruvarur, April 29-May 5. Ramanathan, director, Bharathiar Engineering College, Karaikkal, presides and Ke. B. Rengarajan IRS Additional Commissioner of Income Tax inaugurates. Balasubramaniam, G. M., City Union Bank Ltd., Kumbakonam, will honour flautist T. R. Navaneetham for her services. The Jayanthi of Syama Sastri falls on April 29 and that of Tyagaraja on May 4 this year. Leading musicians and artists will perform on all the six days at the Dikshitar Mandapam, which is getting spruced up. Syama Sastry's house is also under renovation. Honour for DKP

Andhra Music Academy, Visakhapatnam, in association with Sarvani Sangeetha Sabha, Chennai, has organised a special function in honour of D. K. Pattammal. She will be awarded the title, `Sangeetha Vidyanidhi' in the presence of Sivananda Murty Garu on April 25, 6 p.m. at the Music Academy, Chennai. The fuction will be followed by the presentation of Sangeetha Bharathi - Lifetime Achievement Award of Nada Bharathi, Hyderabad. M. Balamuralikrishna will be the chief guest, N. Murali, president, Music Academy, the guest of honour and Vyjayanthimala Bali the special guest. N. V. Subramaniam, Managing Trustee, Saraswathi Vaggeyakara Trust, will grace the occasion. R. Prabhakar Rao, president, Andhra Music Academy, will preside.


The Maha Kumbabhishekam of Sri Veera Anjaneya temple, Tirunaraiyur, Nachiyarkoil, Kumbakonam, is scheduled to take place on April 24 at 9 a.m.
