Award for Athmanathan

The Hamsadhwani R. Ramachandran Drama Award-2012 will be presented to veteran lyricist, composer and director, M.K. Athmanathan, on January 28, 6.10 p.m., at the Youth Hostel lawns, Second Avenue, Indira Nagar, Adyar.

This year being the birth centenary of Avvai T.K. Shanmugam, Athmanathan deserves the award for he has scored music for the plays of the TKS brothers.

Music director Deva, president, Tamil Nadu Iyal Isai Nataka Manram, will preside and honour Athmanathan, while actor Sachu, secretary of the manram, will felicitate.

On the occasion, Tamil stage veteran K.S. Nagarajan of Kala Nilayam will be honoured for his contribution to theatre. ‘Crazy' Mohan will present his popular ‘Chocolate Krishna.'

Vocal recital

The Sadguru Rasanubhava concert will be presented by Gayathri Girish today (January 27), 6.15 p.m., at Sri Krishna Gana Sabha, T. Nagar. Gayathri will be accompanied by V.V. Ravi on the violin, Poongulam Subramanyam on the mridangam and Madipakkam A. Murali on the ghatam. The concert is sponsored by P. Vijayakumar Reddy and Preetha Reddy in memory of P. Obul Reddy.

Radha kalyanam

Sri Radha-Madhava kalyana festival is being conducted at Anandathandavapuram, a village near Mayiladuturai, on February 1, 10.30 a.m.
