Bharat Sangeet Utsav

RmKV Bharat Sangeet Utsav, the pan-Indian musical extravaganza, organised by Carnatica in association with Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha, is back. The seventh edition of the festival will be inaugurated on November 29, 5 p.m., at the Narada Gana Sabha, TTK Road.

The inaugural concert at 5.30 p.m. is by Sudha Ragunathan. This will be followed at 7.15 p.m., by ‘Mile Sur Mera Tumhara -- A Confluence of Indian Musical Styles' featuring Amaan Ali Khan and Ayaan Ali Khan.

The utsav will see some of the biggest names from the Indian music field as well as up and coming artists present classical concerts, jugalbandi, fusion performances, regional and folk music and even Sufi music. For details, call 9444018269 or 4302 4024.

Anniversary

The Kolkata-based Rasikhapriya is celebrating its 19 {+t} {+h} anniversary from November 1 to 6, 6.15 p.m., at Uttam Mancha, 10/1/1, Manoharpukur Road, Kolkata. Mr. N. Murali, president, The Music Academy, will inaugurate. Several artists including Nithyasree Mahadevan, Maharajapuram Ramachandran, Calcutta Srividya, Saketaraman and Malladi Brothers will perform.

On the last day, ‘Samvada', a special concert featuring R. Kumaresh on the violin and Jayanthi Kumaresh on the veena, will be presented.

Pavitrotsavam

The festivities in connection with the pavitrotsavam of Sri Srinivasa Perumal temple, Purasavakkam, will commence on November 6. The event concludes on October 8 with purnahuthi.

The pavitrotsavam of Sri Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal temple, Nungambakkam, will be celebrated from November 10 to 12. The utsavam concludes with purnahuthi. For details call 2484 7807.

Dikshitar Day

Naada Inbam (2499 2672), has organised a special programme in connection with Dikshitar Day to be held on October 29, 6 p.m., at Ragasudha Hall, Luz, Mylapore.

A book on Muthuswami Dikshitar, authored by Geetha Rajagopal and published by Sri Shanmukhananda Fine Arts and Sangeetha Sabha, Mumbai, will be released on the occasion. This will be followed by Aruna Ranganathan's thematic concert.

Reward for winners

The prizes for the winners of the Divya Prabhandam and Desikan Stotrapatam recitation competitions will be distributed on October 30, 6 p.m. Srimad Andavan Swamigal of Srirangam will give away the prizes.

The event, organised by the members of Sri Vaishnava Sripada Kainkaryam Association, will take place at Sri Vedanta Desikar Devasthanam, Mylapore.
