Sri Lalgudi Sankara Madam Renovation Committee has sought contributions for renovation and kumbabishekam of the century-old mutt. According to R. Venkatasubramanian, a member of the committee, it was Mahaperiyava of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, who consecrated this mutt, also called Sri Nataraja Siva Madam, in 1911, at the age of 16. He said, “The committee is aiming to complete the renovation with least financial strain on the Kanchi mutt, though Sri Jayendra Saraswati is ready to help. The total estimated cost for the purpose is Rs. 7 lakhs.

“The kumbabishekam is to be performed in June and the exact date has to be given by Sri Jayendra Saraswathi as every kumbabishekam after 1911 has been performed only in the immediate presence of the Kanchi acharyas. The last kumbabishekam was performed in 1995.
