Music Two Carnatic concerts
Athrilling Carnatic music symphony led by D.Srinivas of Hyderabad, was featured by Mummaneni Subbarao Sidhardha Kalapeetham at the Peetham’s own auditorium. Srinivas was aided by violinist Komanduri Venkata Krishna and M. Anantakrishna on the flute. Upavadya vidwans were Haribabu on ghatam and Lakshmi Shankar on the morsing. Mridanga vidwan MLN Raju, along with the other percussioninsts gave an efficient show. Srinivas’ masterly touch on the veena was spellbinding. The concert was packed with popular items like Natakuranji varnam, Vatapi (Hamsadhvani), `Sarasasamadana’ in Kapinarayani, Samajavaragamana (Hindola), Brochevarevarura (Khamas), Raghuvamsa in Kadanakutuhalam and Nagumomu in Abheri.
Thyagaraja Aradhana was conducted with great devotion and enthusiasm by G.V.R.Government College of Music and Dance, Vijayawada. In the morning staff members and senior students rendered the pancharatna kirtanas impressively, followed by Thyagaraja kirtanas by Modumudi Sudhakar, Anjana Sudhakar, Sashank and B.Saraswathi. In the evening brief vocal concerts by K. Lakshminarasamma and M. Krishna Mohan, Veena recital by principal of the Music College K. S. Govindarajan and a violin recital by Smt.V.Krishnaveni were followed by impressive dance items based on Divyanama kirtanas and Utsava Sampradaya kirtanas.
