Errors have crept into the article, ‘Reinventing Silappadikaram’ (FR, September 6), says Pradeep Chakravarty and points out the following:
In the paragraph beginning “U Ve Sa..”, it was Iravatham Mahadevan who wrote about it in Dinamani. He was its former editor. In the same paragraph, it is not ‘Kannagi Kottam,’ but ‘Pathini Kottam.’ In the fifth paragraph, it should read, “Ilango wanted to document the golden era of the Sangam classics and Tolkappiyam.” It is not the fifth century.
The sentence in the seventh paragraph should read, “The docile and dutiful wife Kannagi in Puhar Kantam becomes a ferocious woman in Madurai Kantam.”
